Well, I had an awesome week. My parents came to visit for the week and we had an amazing time. Hubby got to go to church with us on Easter Sunday and he even got another day off to go to a baseball game with my dad while mom and I did some quilt store shopping. It was wonderful having my parents here. The two people in this world who love me unconditionally, forever, no matter what (and my brother). What a great feeling. Since hubby had to work most of the time, my dad helped me with lots of stuff around the house that needed to get done. He fixed my bike tire and put a new seat on. And put together our new patio table for the backyard. Can't wait to use that! Mom helped me pick out a bunch of flowers and some hanging baskets for the yard. Apparently it's a little too cold to start planting flowers in the ground here. I love my hanging baskets though! Mom and I also got lots of sewing projects done. I love it when she's here to help me. :) I always get sad when they leave. It'll only take me a few days before I'm crying to my husband telling him I miss my family. This life we lead is a hard one when I'm so close to my family but yet live so far away. Praying that we get to live much closer at our next duty station.
On another note, a few friends of mine have recently blogged about how they are challenging themselves to be more positive. I'm going to try this. This is going to have to be a conscious effort for me. Sometimes I open my mouth and say things before I think about them. I don't want to regret things that I say. I want to think about what's coming out of my mouth before it hits someone else's ears. I let a few things this week really get to me. Stupid, irrelevant, nonsense things that shouldn't have upset me so much. I tried to let it not get to me....but it did. And I felt like it was out of my control. I think instead of focusing on the negative things that get me worked up, I need to focus on the positives things in my life. A friend said that she writes down 5 things in a "gratitude journal" whenever she's having a rough day. I think this is a wonderful idea. I went to Borders with a friend the other night and I got a small journal so I can start this. I think it'll also help me to look back on each day and read previous entries that made me happy that day. They'll just add up until my whole book is full of positive things. I'm hoping this will help throughout each day to think positively and see everything that I have to be grateful for in this life. There is so much I have to be grateful for, there's no reason to let anything negative invade that and ruin it. I am so blessed and thank God each day for everything that He has given me. I'll share my 5 things for today. An adorable puppy sleeping soundly snuggled next to me on the couch. Lunch with friends at a great new burger joint. Friends who really KNOW me....and still love me. A family that would do anything for me. A husband who works his butt off to keep our little family going.
